If you’re about to launch a new business venture, here are some tips for getting it some attention.
Press Release
A press release is one of the most effective ways to tell the world about your new business. A well written and compelling press release can attract inquiries from TV media, TV shows, magazines, newspapers, bloggers and other journalists. A press release can also attract buyers, build links to your website and gain potential partners and networking opportunities.
A press release should announce the launch of your business and promote your website. A good press release will include details like information about your company and how it began, information about the owners, a mission statement, as well as the all important contact details. Contact details should include the website URL, business address, a contact email address and a particular person to contact along with their contact details, including a phone number, email and/or fax number.
When it comes to distributing the press release, there are many options. For businesses with a big budget, consider announcing on the largest newswires like Marketwire, BusinessWire or PR Newswire. These are expensive options however, ranging from hundreds to thousands of dollars depending on the options you choose. A step lower is the online press release distribution services like PRWeb and eReleases. These services give you a good range of release options at more affordable prices. Lastly, there are free press release services like PRLog and PRFree. These services are excellent for businesses starting with a very low budget, but be aware that third party advertising and banner ads may be included with your release on these services.
Social Media
If you are already on MySpace, FaceBook, Twitter or any of the other social network sites, consider announcing your new business on those sites, to your friends and followers. You can also create special profiles on each service specifically for your business. In addition, you can leverage the many niche networks. For example, a new business selling clothing made from recycled materials would do well to create profiles on niche social networking sites like Care2 and Gaia. Both of these networks cater to an audience that would be more interested in recycling and caring for the earth than your average Myspace or Facebook user. For other businesses, creating a profile on business networking sites like Ryze and LinkedIn would also be beneficial.
Advertising Campaign
There are many ways to advertise to your prospective customers or business partners. Pay per click search engines offer a quick way to reach search engine users that are typing in keyword phrases related to your product or service. Examples of these include Google AdWords, MSN AdCenter and Yahoo Search Marketing.
In addition to pay per click marketing, you can advertise to precisely where your potential customers gather. Consider running banner and/or text link ad campaigns at websites, forums, portals and blogs that your audience tends to visit.
Marketing With Content
Writing helpful tips, articles and guides and then posting this content to your website or blog, then submitting this content to social news networks like Digg, Mixx, Reddit and Propeller is also an excellent way to get attention for your new business.
