Why are Pressure Sensor MEMS important?
Over the last two decades, the pressure sensor MEMS (MicroElectroMechanical Systems) industry has made continuous improvements. This continuous improvement is borne from the demanding requirements of tens of thousands of hydrostatic pressure based, level installations. In these applications, linearity and accuracy have to perform throughout the measuring range and a sensors’ performance is constantly monitored against content and level readings. These pressure controls also have a range of approvals and designs for chemical, marine, food and pharmaceuticals available.
How do Pressure Controls Work?
The pressure measuring cell is the heart of the pressure transmitter converting the pressure into an electrical signal. This pressure dependent signal is converted by the integrated electronics into a standardized output signal. Different sensors are used for pressure measurement. The ceramic cells have the advantages of excellent long term stability with high overload resistance. The metal cells cover higher measuring ranges and use stainless steel as diaphragm material.
Where can I use Pressure Sensor MEMS?
You can use Pressure Sensor MEMS in almost all pressure and vacuum applications. They can mount in any orientation with a wide range of process fittings to get connected to your process. High temperature, high resistance, gauge and absolute transmitters are available, across all ranges complimented with special ranges of (chemical) seals, fittings and materials.
Pressure transducers offer high precision, reliability and an easy solution to measurements. SMART electronics, digital Profibus and Foundation Fieldbus versions are available if you know where to look. Some good features are:
Integral temperature compensation, log, display and output
Plug in programmer for set-up, storage
Indication, datalogging and an in-head trend display
Approved hygienic fittings and seals to give flush surfaces for easy cleaning
Self Monitoring measuring cell for high integrity
New industry-leading technology and modularity
Why Should I Use Pressure Controls?
Pressure controls offer high precision, reliability and offer an easy solution to measurements. SMART electronics (pressure sensor MEMS) and Fieldbus versions are available for different needs.
Pressure transducers have a very high overload resistance, up to 200 times, self-monitoring cells and 0.1% accuracy as standard. There are three main types of measurement cell with advantages for different pressure applications. The measurement cell is the heart of any transmitter.
CERTEC CELL - a ceramic cell for excellent, chemical and abrasion resistance and high overload up to 200 times!
METEC CELL - a hastelloy and stainless, self temperature compensating cell for hygienic and high temperatures up to 250 degC with no additional chemical seal. Overload up to 200 times too!
DMS CELL - a dry metal diaphragm, vibration and shock resistant design for pressure ranges up to 600 bar
Look at for brands that offer pressure transducers for top, bottom and side mounting, hygienic, aseptic, 3A, EHEDG and FDA approved designs and materials.
